Pieces of Time  (MP3)

Pieces of Time (wma)

Julie Wernette Roche was a friend of mine as well as a partner in songwriting. I was at her house for dinner one day before I knew she liked to write. She had several beautiful quilts on the walls and furniture. I asked her if she quilted, she said no, but her family did. She showed me an Irish quilt for her daughter, Kari who was also a student of mine. I told her she should write a song about these wonderful quilts and what a family heirloom they are. The next week she came into her lesson with this song in hand and asked me to put it to music.  She was going to give the recording to her mother for a Mothers day gift

                                                 Pieces Of Time

Pieces of time make a quilt. Hours of work shows what’s built. Stitching a life with threads of love, hold all that’s dreamed of.

Babies snuggled in Irish Chain, full of colors none are the same, corners used to wipe their tears handed down through the years, each one sewn with thoughts of love. She knows her quilt holds what’s dreamed of.

Pieces of time, threads of love,  pieces of time hold all that’s dreamed of. Pieces of time, threads of love,  pieces of time hold all that’s dreamed of. Pieces of time.

Pieces of time make a quilt. Hours of work shows what’s built. Stitching a life with threads of love, hold all that’s dreamed of.

Hold all that’s dreamed of; hold all that’s dreamed of.
